Septembers corn moon

In most years, the full moon closest to the autumn equinox is known as the Harvest Moon — a time when its bright light once gave farmers precious extra hours to gather their crops. When October takes that title, September’s full moon is called the Corn Moon, honouring one of the season’s most important harvests.

This moon is a symbol of gratitude, preparation, and the closing of the growing season. It invites us to gather what we’ve sown — both in our fields and in our lives — and to look ahead to the darker months with intention.

For centuries, cultures across the world have named each full moon to reflect nature’s rhythms. September’s moon holds a special place as a celebration of abundance and the shifting of the year.

At Pulborough Paddles, we mark this tradition with our Full Moon Paddle on the River Arun. As the sun dips behind the South Downs and the moon rises, you’ll glide through calm waters, guided only by moonlight — a timeless experience of stillness, beauty, and connection.
