Augusts sturgeon moon

For centuries, cultures around the world have named each full moon to reflect nature’s rhythms. In July, we welcome the Sturgeon Moon — named by Native American tribes who noticed sturgeon were most abundant in late summer. While its roots lie in North America, the name is now widely used across UK lunar calendars and continues to inspire connection with the natural world.

This moon symbolises abundance, harvest, and the deep bond between people and water. Paddle under its glow and take a moment to reflect on what sustains you.

At Pulborough Paddles, we bring this tradition to life with our Full Moon Paddle on the River Arun. As the sun sets and the moon rises over the South Downs, you’ll drift through peaceful waters, guided by moonlight — a timeless experience of stillness, beauty, and connection.
