Hire information

Typically you can expect to remain dry in a canoe but ultimately you are in/around water so there is a chance of getting moist especially from paddle splash. If hiring an SUP we suggest you plan for the worst and hope for the best and expect to be in the river at least once or twice.

If hiring a canoe we recommend multiple lighter layers wherever possible so you can adjust easily to conditions. Please avoid wearing heavy or bulky items of clothing as it can be difficult to fit you in a life vest and will impact your ability to swim should in the unlikely event you be unseated.

Even the more experienced SUP paddlers can fall in, we recommend a light T-Shirt and swimming shorts. Please also bring a change of clothes and a towel which can be collected on your return.

Water, snacks, picnic, sunscreen, camera, good humour and healthy respect for the river and other river users. We have a selection of soft drinks and ice-creams available from our shop and will provide a small watertight bag for valuables.

We do not provide wetsuits.

We ask that people are “water confident” in case they end up in the water. Being able to swim is not imperative but we would recommend you are able to swim. We provide safety equipment and everyone must wear a buoyancy aid when going on the river.

Our canoes are suitable for up to 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 small children up to a max weight 40 stone.

As standard we will provide you with a vessel, paddle, buoyancy aid and small waterproof bag.

Yes however under no circumstance should it be tethered to your craft.

We go paddling in the rain, and don’t cancel sessions due to the rain (you’re going on the water and stand to get wet anyway). We are more concerned with the wind speed, river levels and tides.

We do our best to not cancel hires however if the weather is going to be particularly bad and the river conditions dangerous with as much notice as possible we will offer you an alternative, or may have to cancel.
